Nevada Stories

Teri Brewer served as the initial filmmaker and director as well as eventual series editor for Folk Arts Road Trip (later renamed Nevada Stories a project of the Folk Arts Program at the  Nevada Arts Council). This series of short films for on line screening  explored traditional folk arts and practices in both rural and urban Nevada.  Brewer’s contribution to the series included films such as Tying our World Together: Gathering Dogbane,  Telling Place: The Stone Mother of Pyramid Lake, Sticks and Bones: Paiute Hand Games,  The Mountain Picassos and Hunting the Moutain Picassos (now on tour), A Young Face of Washoe Tradition, Making Lefse, Training Stock Dogs, Northern Paiute Powwow Regalia. The series now also includes films made by regional filmmakers such as Gwen Clancy, Gabe Shaw and Emire Stitt. For a full current list please see the Nevada Arts Council’s website.
